Cottage Glen will be a model of sustainable "green" building practices for Calistoga.
- Site development with a minimum of non-porous hard surfaces will reduce storm runoffs.
- Recycled water will be used for landscape irrigation if feasible.
- Smaller houses use far less energy- a shift from "bigger is better" to "small is beautiful".
- Factory-built housing techniques waste far less construction material and scraps are recycled.
- A combination of open & closed-cell foam insulation, tankless water heaters, and PEX water delivery systems in the homes will provide energy efficiency and water savings significantly beyond code requirements.
- High efficiency heating and cooling systems will be used.
- Appliances will be Energy-Star rated.
- LEED certified low VOX paint will be used.
We anticipate Cottage Glen will qualify for one of the new LEED Home certifications, and other green construction certifications.
