The vision for Cottage Glen
takes us back to our roots in an earlier time

The Vision

With its roots in the original hot springs resort concept established by Sam Brannan in the late 1800's, Calistoga has a unique blend of historically significant architectural styles, including Victorian, cottage, craftsman, and bungalow homes, most located in the "old" area near downtown. The overriding principle in the design of Cottage Glen is maintaining the community character these homes help create in Calistoga.

Most of these homes are relatively modest in size, many are on small lots, and their traditional styles take us back to a simpler time. The automobile was not such a dominant part of our society then, and most homes have single garages located at the rear.

Cottage Glen will embody these design concepts. The homes will be of traditional architecture, and the neighborhood will feature narrow streets with most garages located toward the rear of each parcel.

The neighborhood and the homes will employ the latest "Green" concepts to further sustainability. The use of impervious surfaces will be minimized. Landscaping will feature native plants and gardens, and if feasible, recycled water will be used for irrigation. Construction techniques and materials will be energy efficient, and factory-built components will reduce waste.
